Volleyball season could net excitement
Volleyball season officially will get underway this week. Some area teams took to the court on Thursday for a pre-season event at Tate High School. Pace and Milton not only participated in this, but faced each other in a highly competitive match....

The Clemson volleyball team won the Big Orange Bash with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-21) win over Albany to move to 3-0 on the young season. The Tigers made it through the tournament without dropping a set on the way to the team's first Big Orange Bash Championship since 2004.

W. Volleyball. Auburn Captures War Eagle Invite Title With 3-1 Win Over Georgia Southern
The Auburn volleyball squad captured the 2010 War Eagle Invitational title Saturday night with a 3-1 (17-25, 25-16, 25-13, 25-19) victory over Georgia Southern at the Student Activities Center.

Volleyball takes Illini Classic title
In their second four-set match of the season, the Illinois volleyball team defeated Middle Tennessee, 23-25, 25-18, 25-16, 25-12. The Fighting Illini finished their opening weekend undefeated, with a 3-0 record, winning the State Farm Illini Classic Title.

Volleyball Sweeps UC Riverside
The Fresno State volleyball team opened the 2010 season in sweeping style with a 3-0 victory over UC Riverside by set scores of 26-24, 25-22 and 25-19.

Volleyball Opens Season with Win Over Youngstown State
Morgantown, W. Va. - The University of Akron Volleyball team opened up their 2010 campaign in dominating fashion Saturday afternoon, downing Youngstown State, 25-18, 28-26, 25-19, at the West Virginia Classic.

The Last of the 2010 Beach Season

The AVP may have collapsed and the summer may be coming to an end, but you still have a few chances to catch some beach volleyball.

This Saturday, the winners of the Barefoot Wine AVPNext Championship Cup will take on the Olympiansin Milwaukee. The men's winner will take on Todd Rogers and Phil Dalhausser while the winning women's team will play Kerri Walsh and Rachel Wacholder.

How "Over" Is The AVP?

It's official. As of now, the AVP is done. After two weeks of limbo and waiting for word, the AVP let the staff, players and fans know on Friday the 13th of all days that the decision was made. The rest of the 2010 season is canceled. No scheduled AVP events in San Francisco, Chicago, Cincinnati, Hermosa Beach or Manhattan Beach in the coming weeks. It's over.
