W. Volleyball. Former Clemson All-American Danielle Hepburn Signs Professional Contract
Former All-American and 2008 ACC Volleyball Player of the Year Danielle Hepburn has signed a contract to play professional volleyball in France. Hepburn will join the Terville Florange Olympique Club in August. The team is located in Terville, France.

Volleyball to host 2012 NCAA Regional
The NCAA has named The University of Texas as one of its regional sites for the 2012 Division I Women's Volleyball Championships.

Volleyball bows out to Hemet Bulldogs
HEMET The Hemet Bulldogs swept the Santa Ynez Pirates boys volleyball team 25-20, 25-19, 25-17 in the second round of Division IV on Thursday. They were just a little better than we were tonight, Santa Ynez coach Chip Fenenga said after his Los Padres League champions wound up 12-10 overall.

COSHOCTON HOSTS VOLLEYBALL CAMP
The Coshocton Volleyball program will be hosting two summer volleyball camps at Coshocton High School.

Area volleyball players selected to state teams
Pennridge, Parkland and Becahi players make all-tournament team Area boys volleyball players have been selected to the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association (PVCA) all-state and all-tournament teams.

Union volleyball meeting set
Union (Dugger) volleyball coach Ashley LaFever is requesting that any girls entering high school this fall interested in playing volleyball for the Lady Bulldogs please attend a meeting on Monday July 5 at 4:30 p.m.

Crookston volleyball team finishes up summer season
The Crookston volleyball team completed their summer season with a fourth place finish in Hawley and third place in Fertile.

VOLLEYBALL OPEN GYM
Chillicothe seventh- and eighth-grade volleyball will have open gyms at the Chillicothe High School gymnasium from 6 to 8 p.m. July 6, 8, 13, 15, 20, 22, 27, 29 and Aug. 3 and 5.

The Ozark volleyball program will host camps for players in grades 3-12 during July 19-22.

Volleyball announces 2010 schedule
The MSU volleyball team, which returns 11 letterwinners from its 2009 squad, announced its schedule for the 2010 season Tuesday. Playing a tough schedule, the Spartans will face nine of the 21 teams in last seasons NCAA Tournament and three of the four NCAA Semifinal teams.

Misty's Book Hits Stores

It has been a long time since a volleyball player's autobiography hit the stores. I think the last one was Gabrielle Reece's memoirs back in 1998.

Well, the drought has ended. This week, Misty May-Treanor's autobiography entitled "Misty: Digging Deep in Volleyball and Life" was released.

Conference Shifting and Volleyball

The Big Ten now has twelve teams, the Big 12 now has ten teams and the Pac 10 is now at 11. Despite all the talk of a Pac-16 super conference, it seems that the 10 remaining teams of the Big 12 will stay put after all.

Must-Win for USA Men

Reid Priddy and Clay Stanley have been back in the line-up for the last two weeks, but the USA men's team lost setter Donald Suxho to injury last week in the first match against Egypt. Kevin Hansen has been the starting setter ever since, pulling out wins in the two Egypt matches.

This piece of news came as quite a surprise to me, but it seems we have not seen the last of Gabrielle Reece. The 40-year old former model is coming back to the sand to compete in a new four-woman league the AVP is launching next month.

American Men Keep Hope Alive

After dropping their first two World League matches to Russia, the USA men rebounded with two four set wins over Finland. The wins bring their record to 2-2. They now sit in second place in their pool and tied with Germany for eighth overall.

What's Up With California VB Fans?

I couldn't help asking someone from USA Volleyball this week why World League matches are rarely held in California cities. The answer was that California tends to be too expensive especially for FIVB events that have more requirements to meet. Also, no cities have really stepped up to host and when they have had events here, the crowds have been meager.
