Couple whines over future volleyball court

September 5th, 2005

Some people are just volleyball haters.

A hotel that was granted a permit to build a sand volleyball court is being protested by some neighbors (actually one couple) that doesn’t like the bar becoming a “sports bar.”

Sounds like some people really need to get out more. Volleyball doesn’t cause THAT much rucus!

Interest in volleyball increasing at a record pace

September 2nd, 2005

While this is just a local story, volleyball is seeing an increase in followers at the college level.

Much needed respect some might say, while others (losers) still don’t consider volleyball a worthy enough sport.

Get out on the court you lazy bastards is what I say to them!

Then again, some people will never change.

Assumption name #1 (in volleyball that is)

August 31st, 2005

While it’s no surprise to those from Kentucky, the Assumption team with its 11 state titles and past national championships is ranked 1st this season.

Of course other teams will say it isn’t so, but only the upcoming season will show. We all know how those preseason rankings turn out for all high school and college level sports.

We’ll just have to wait and see!

Offseason volleyball training is a must!

August 28th, 2005

Just another interesting article singing the phrases of good volleyball training outside of the regular season (ie. offseason volleyball training).

“We had kids go to about every camp offered in the Midwest and play in leagues. They played about as much volleyball as they could in the summer, and it shows,” she said.

If you can’t get to or afford specialty camps, then physical training in the weight room and on the track is always a good thing.

High school volleyball players to watch

August 26th, 2005

Here’s a pretty good list of high school volleyball players to keep an eye on this season.

Certainly, great things are expected from them now and in their post high school yearsl.

Who knows, maybe someone you know is on the list (probably not!)

Let’s get ready for some Volleyball!

For you college volleyball buffs, the season is about the start.

Follow up on some chatter about this over here.

Is Hawaii the team to beat?

August 21st, 2005

Other say Nevada will win it. As reported by About.com Volleyball, Hawaii and Nevada were voted the front runners to win the WAC this upcoming season.

Then again, we all know how reliable those coaches polls are….

USA defeats Canada in world qualifiers

August 19th, 2005

Canada lost in three straight sets to the US team according to CJAD.

Before tournament play began, the US was ranked 5th in the world, while Canada was ranked 22nd.

It’s nice to see volleyball getting such press on a world-wide level, adding to the legimaticy of the sport.

Stay safe on the courts and in the sand

August 16th, 2005

Certainly playing volleyball is fun; but setting on the sidelines hurt isn’t.

Here’s an overview of volleyball safety tips Rebecaa put together for the site.

If you’re interested in not getting hurt (who isn’t) then it’s definitely worth a read…

Are you a volleyball history buff or just a poser?

August 14th, 2005

Here’s one of the most heavily read articles at Everything Volleyball; the history of volleyball.

“Just over 100 years ago, in 1895, William G. Morgan developed the first game of Volleyball. At the time, Morgan dubbed the game Mintonette.”

If you have anything to add, I’d be glad to hear it!
